Engagement and Collaboration – David Bogopa

In the South African context of collaborative research, young researchers benefit from experienced researchers. However, the problem arises because we have two camps within anthropology itself. We have departments that focus on social anthropology, and we have departments that specialise on cultural anthropology. Now, social anthropology departments tend to look down upon cultural anthropology people. In terms of doing projects together, cultural anthropologists are marginalised, even if they have expertise in the area.
