Kiran Nagarkar is one of the most revered living writers of modern Indian literature. He is the author of the critically acclaimed novels Ravan and Eddie, Cuckold (for which he won the Sahitya Akademi Award), God’s Little Soldier and The Extras, a sequel to Ravan and Eddie. His first book, Saat Sakkam Trechalis, written in Marathi and translated into English as Seven Sixes are Forty-three, is considered a landmark in post-Independence Indian literature. His play Bedtime Story and the screenplay Black Tulip were published in 2015. His novels have been translated into German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Marathi. Nagarkar has also written several plays and screenplays in Marathi and English.
He will be staying in Manipal for a month as part of the scholar-in-residence program. Through this period, he will deliver talks and hold sessions, the schedule for which will be updated soon.
