Cities and Citizenship

This course will critically engage with the contemporary urban policies that view cities as motors of human development. It will engage with some of the most important sources of conflict in cities particularly over resources such as land and water. It look at the ways in which cities today are both spaces of stark inequality, violence, difference and segregation – as well agency, desire & social change. This course will serve as introductory to the advanced Urban Sociology course provided in MA, Sociology.
