Research Methods: Literary Criticism

The accent of this course, after a brief introduction of the history of the field, will be on how literary criticism engages with topics such as film, science fiction, gender and post-coloniality. A close-reading of a wide variety of texts will serve as the introduction to questions of reading and method. As this course will be taught in the second semester, it will try to survey some of the most productive directions of contemporary literary criticism, as it navigates the political and cultural history of an ever wider global cosmopolitanism.
